The HSC Pediatric Center (HSC) and Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) have collaborated to enhance the care provided to the region's children. Starting in July 1, 2005, CNMC has provided all medical staff services for HSC, including inpatient pediatric hospitalist and specialty consultations. HSC and CNMC have a long history of working together in many areas. Our respective organizations will continue to remain independent as we move forward into a new era of health care delivery for children with special needs.

Responding to the changing health care needs of children in the Washington area and beyond has always been the mission of The HSC Pediatric Center (HSC). We help infants, children and adolescents to reach their fullest potential despite the many challenges they and their families face. We are a rehabilitation and transitional care hospital the bridge for youngsters who no longer need the intensive treatment of an acute care facility, but who are not yet well enough to return home to their families, schools and communities.

Our programs and services address all of a child's needs: medical, intellectual, emotional, social and psychological. The medical staff of The HSC Pediatric Center are deeply committed to providing the best quality care to our patients. The HSC professional staff includes pediatric hospitalists, physiatrists, psychologists, pediatric nurse practitioners and a variety of pediatric specialty consultants. Inpatient consultant services offered at The HSC Pediatric Center include:

Cardiology*
Infectious Disease*
Pulmonology*
Neonatology*
Ophthalmology*
Neurology*
Development*
Gastroenterology*
Dentistry

* These consultants are based at CNMC and come to HSC at regular intervals for subspecialty consultations.
